| | | |  | | This windlass is not only functional and reliable, it is a work of art on the bow of your yacht. Constructed of cast bronze, it is easy to maintain and, unlike electric windlasses, it can be dismantled and rebuilt while underway using only basic tools. The drive train utilizes oversized (1- 1/8" and 3/4") stainless steel shafts, and bronze and stainless gears for maximum strength. Brass bushings are used throughout. The removable stainless steel handle (included) operates the one-speed, double-action ratchet drive system. This handle is also used to engage the brake when lowering the anchor although, without the right “touch”, the flat brake pad allows for only limited control of the chain speed. With its high mechanical advantage, this windlass can lift heavy loads, but expect to take a while to weigh anchor, as retrieval speed will be slow.
