The YakRax "J" shaped brackets mount to your life line stanchions and store your kayak out-of-the-way, yet ready to use at a moment's notice.
They allow you to take your kayak with you on your sailing adventures without taking up valuable deck space, or having to tow it with the potential for wrapping the painter in your propeller.
NOT the stamped metal brackets you are used to from other manufacturers, these brackets are strong, heavy-duty 6061 aluminum alloy bar stock that measures 1/2" thick and 1-3/4" wide.
The bracket is lined with durable, die-cut, closed-cell EVA foam to cushion and protect the finish on your kayak and keep it from getting scratched when loading or unloading.
One of the key features about this rack is its clamp mount system. This a railing-mount style rack that is designed to attach to your boat's stanchions or crossbar railings.
The rack attaches to the railing using 4 universal heavy duty aluminum (not plastic!) clamps. No way are these brackets going to fall or get knocked off your boat!
The clamps can both swivel and rotate 360 degrees which allows you to mount the rack on slanted, vertical, or horizontal tubing...or even a combination of these - like at the bow of your boat.
Each rack arm receives two clamps that are inserted into one of the 4 pre-drilled holes. These 4 pre-drilled holes are spaced along the length of the rack arm so that you can have lots of different mounting configuration possibilities.
With the swiveling clamps and the multiple clamp mounting locations, this rack is very universal and will fit almost any boat railing or stanchion configuration. This rack comes with a very detailed instruction manual and video, so installation is a breeze.
The kit comes with three sets of rubber inserts for 7/8", 1" or 1-1/4" stanchion diameters. In addition to adapting to various diameter stanchions, the inserts protect the polished surface of the stanchion from scratehes.
