G/flex 655 is a toughened, versatile epoxy that is pre-thickened to reduce sagging for the permanent waterproof bonding of fiberglass, ceramics, metals, plastics, damp, and difficult-to-bond woods.
With a modulus of elasticity of 150,000 psi, it's a bit more flexible than standard epoxies and polyesters, but much stiffer than adhesive sealants. This gives G/flex the ability to make structural bonds that can absorb the stress of expansion and contraction, shock, and vibration.
Mixed at a 1:1 ratio, at 72°F G/flex gives you 45 minutes of working time, and reaches an initial cure in 7 to 10 hours and full cure in 24 hours.
• Ideal for bonding a wide range of dissimilar materials
• Glue resinous and exotic woods
• Repair aluminum, plastic and wooden boats, kayaks and canoes
Among other things, G/flex 655 is ideal for repairing plastic canoes, kayaks and inflatables made from HDPE, LDPE, ABS, PVC, or polycarbonate plastic.
This video will give you an idea of the kinds of repairs you can make with 655 G/flex Epoxy.
Comparing G/flex 650 and 655 epoxies
650 G/flex epoxy is "toughened" by the addition of a rubber component to the resin, increasing the cured epoxy's flexibility, tensile strength, and elongation. The mixed resin has the consistency of honey at room temperature.
655 G/flex epoxy has the same formulation as 650 G/flex, but the resin also contains 2% colloidal silica as a thickening agent to lower sagging, allowing it to be used in vertical applications and other situations where you don't want the epoxy to run out of the joint. The mixed resin has the consistency of gel toothpaste.
