Ideal for large yachts, off-grid wind or solar, and power systems back-up, these 94 lb high capacity Absorbed Glass Matt (AGM) cells can be wired as 2 volt - 900 Ah or 4 volt - 450 Ah† units to create very high capacity, yet physically manageable, batteries.
These cells represent a compelling solution for installations requiring high capacity batteries, especially high cycle life (400 more cycles than the Firefly Group 31 to 80% depth of discharge), or installations with space issues - available height but restricted L x W base area.

Firefly’s award-winning, patented, Oasis battery construction technology removes almost all limitations of lead-acid batteries – flooded or standard AGM.
Firefly discovered that much of the lead in the traditional negative plate grid structure of conventional batteries can be replaced with a totally new type of grid material – Microcell™ Carbon Foam.
The main improvement of this carbon foam construction is that it resists sulfation and corrosion, while dramatically increasing the surface area of the battery plates due to their honeycombed (micro cell) structure.
More surface area means more chemical reactions per second - for much faster charging, better engine starting performance, and deeper discharge capability.
Another advantage of the increased surface area in Firefly's Microcell technology is evenly distributed chemical reactions - for significantly lower internal temperatures during use.
It is well established that heat kills batteries, and the lower operating temperatures in Firefly batteries result in dramatically increased service life - often up to 3 to 4 times that of normal AGM or Gel batteries!
Oasis batteries also exhibit unparalleled resistance to sulfation – and sulfation is what often kills other AGM batteries.

Of particular importance is that Firefly Oasis carbon foam AGM batteries offer outstanding long life even under (commonly practiced) partial state-of-charge operation — where, due to the length of time it takes, battery charging is stopped before a full charge has been achieved.
This type of usage is typical in most real-life applications (we've all done this), and is a significant factor in decreased capacity and premature battery failure.
Unlike other batteries, Firefly batteries suffer no damage at all from use or lengthy storage in a partial state-of-charge.

Firefly battery features —
• Absorbed Glass Mat (AGM) construction with carbon foam plate technology
• Excellent performance in both engine starting and deep cycle applications
• Increased energy efficiency - for fast recharge to full capacity
• Deeper discharge capabilities than lead acid batteries
• More cycles per battery - for a significantly longer service life - even under partial state of charge operation
• Sealed case – spillproof and requires no maintenance
• High energy density (high power-to-weight ratio) - so they are smaller than other batteries with the same amp-hour rating
• Particularly high resistance to battery killing sulfation - for worry-free off-season storage
• Better performance under extreme conditions - offering a 126°F range of operating temperatures
• High initial expense, but less than half the cost, per cycle, of traditional batteries over the lifespan of the battery

Further details…
• Continuous power is available throughout the discharge process for true deep-cycle performance to power vessel or RV "house loads"
• Capable of fast recharge to full capacity
• More uniform current density distribution for increased utilization of active material
• More uniform current density distribution for less localized corrosion and plate material depletion near the battery terminals - as is found in traditional batteries
• Higher retention of capacity in cold temperatures
• Very strong internal structure has excellent resistance to vibration - an issue with traditional batteries
• Unmatched ability to recover from extended storage in discharged state
• Can be installed in any orientation (except inverted)
• Available with Battery Energy Management System (BEMS) by special order; please inquire at 800-426-6930
• Industry leading warranty - up to 6 years pro-rated for RV and marine applications; see below for more details
• Compatible with existing lead acid battery recycling best practices

NOTE — Like any battery, Firefly batteries need to be charged at the proper voltage to take advantage of their long service life capabilities. The easiest way to damage these batteries is to have a high float voltage.
At 2 volts, the maximum charge voltage is 2.40V and the maximum float voltage is 2.23 volts*.
At 4 volts, the maximum charge voltage is 4.80V and the maximum float voltage is 4.46 volts*.
At 12 volts, the maximum charge voltage is 14.4V and the maximum float voltage is 13.4 volts*.
* These values are measured at 77°F - you should compensate for any temperature difference; for details, refer to the operation section of User's Manual referenced in this entry.

Not suggested for use in applications where an outboard motor will directly charge the batteries. If you have outboard motors, you may need a separate DC to DC charger to provide the appropriate charge profile for Firefly batteries (see related products).

† Measured at 20 hr discharge rate.
