Extremely Low Self-Discharge: The dormant/self-discharge rate of Pale Blue batteries is extremely low. This is one of the advantages of a lithium-ion battery with an internal control circuit vs. an alkaline or Ni-MH battery, where the cell discharges directly into the device (with no control circuit). Although high ambient temperatures, and high humidity, can increase the internal drain, in normal circumstances a Pale Blue battery installed in a device, like a door lock, will last about 12 months before needing to be re-charged.

Most smoke detector and carbon dioxide detector manufacturers recommend not using rechargeable batteries in their products – primarily because they typically require frequent recharging. Always check your detector instruction manuals and manufacturer’s recommendations before making your battery selection. When in doubt, do not use rechargeable or rechargeable lithium-ion batteries in your detectors.
