Please note: The FCC requires AIS transponders to be programmed before they are used. See below for important details.*
Vesper's Cortex is a revolutionary VHF radio system which incorporates VHF functions, AIS vessel ID/collision avoidance,
direct calls to specific vessels (DSC), and optional smartphone remote vessel monitoring and control.
The Cortex system consists of a "black box" AIS Hub, a GPS antenna, and your choice of wired or wireless VHF handsets.
Cortex is also available, as an out-of-the-box, fully functional VHF system utilizing the wired handset option (see Cortex V1).
The Cortex M1 AIS Hub is the "black box" heart of the Cortex VHF/AIS. This is a a full Class B SOTDMA SmartAIS with both send and receive capabilities.
Cortex is the world’s first VHF with Class B high speed SOTDMA AIS transponder technology making your boat visible to others.
A built-in heading sensor tells other vessels your direction, helping them to more accurately predict potential collisions.
Configure and monitor the Cortex system and receive alerts to a connected smartphone on the Cortex Onboard App or receive alerts
and control devices on the boat remotely using the Cortex Monitor App.
• Add an H1P wireless portable handset, or an H1 wired portable handset to the M1 Hub for full VHF capability
• Built-in fast update Class B SOTDMA AIS (Self-Organized Time-Division Multiple-Access) (Automatic Identification System)
• Built in no-loss VHF antenna splitter
• Includes external 10Hz GPS antenna with various mounting options; connects to Hub via 33 ft Cortex GPS Antenna Patch Cable (included)
• Built-in WiFi and Cellular connectivity for monitoring on board and ashore (ashore monitoring requires paid subscription)
• Low 0.5 amp power consumption hub
• Monitor up to 5, directly connected, vessel parameter sensors
• Options to use the Cortex M1 with up to 10 cordless H1P handsets
• Connect devices via your onboard NMEA2000 or NMEA 0183 network to monitor sensors remotely, receive Man Overboard alarms, etc.
• Protocols: AIS Class B SO-TDMA, VHF Voice, Class D DSC, ATIS (user configurable, EU region), NOAA Weather (US region)
• Splitter: Max input power 25W, Insertion Loss RX 0dB, TX < 1dB
• Waterproof (IPX7)
• VHF antenna not included
* FCC Required Programming for your AIS transponder
When you receive your unit, before powering it on, you must:
• Fill out the FCC Programming Log form on this page (see: "MANUFACTURERS RESOURCES")
• Take a photo of the serial unit's number
• Email both to: [email protected]
Fisheries will then upload the info to the cloud and the unit will receive the programming as a download when it is installed and powered up.
If there are problems with the download Fisheries can send you the settings to upload manually.
