The function of Fiberglass Surface Prep is very similar to Interlux 202 Fiberglass Solvent Wash; see Related Products, below.
The main difference is that Fiberglass Surface Prep is a low VOC formulation (only 3% of the VOCs compared to 202), which utilizes weaker solvents and therefore requires more work to use (see below).
So, if you require or desire a low VOC product, use Fiberglass Surface Prep. If you have protection from VOCs, 202 Solvent Wash is probably an easier to use (wipe on/wipe off) alternative.
• Low V.O.C. fiberglass surface preparation
• Removes contamination, mold release agents, wax and amine blush
• Clean previously painted surfaces before repainting topside finishes
• Ideal for preparing inflatable boats for antifouling
Apply Fiberglass Surface Prep with a brush or 3/8" nap roller. Scrub surface thoroughly with a maroon Scotch-Brite® pad. Remove the residue by wiping off with a clean, wet cloth, changing cloths frequently. Repeat until no traces of residue remain.
Be sure all wax and other contamination is removed by running water over the surface and checking to make sure the water "sheets" without beading or separating.
