Optical* smoke detectors have consistently been recognized as suitable detectors for general use. They are regarded as particularly suitable for smoldering fires and escape routes.
The OMSD-01 detector operates on the well-established light scatter principle. However, the sensing technology is radically different in design from previous optical detectors and significantly reduces false alarms due to over-sensitivity to transient phenomena.
Removes the likelihood of a detector producing an alarm as a result of a non-fire source.
This detector is designed for marine, RV, residential and institutional applications, including sleeping quarters and other occupied spaces.
• Recommended for use as general-purpose smoke detectors for early warning of fires in most areas
• Suitable for residential spaces
• Early detection of slow burning, smoldering fires
• Reduced false alarms
• Increased reliability of detection
• Responds to a wide spectrum of fires – both fast and slow buring
• Works well in black as well as in white smoke
• Responds to stationary flames that don't flicker
• Sensitive to UV radiation emitted by flames during combustion
• Sensing chamber keeps out dust and other airborne contaminants
• Operates over a broad range of voltages at extremes of temperature
• Sampling Frequency: Once every four seconds
• Operating Voltage: 8.5 V DC to 33 V DC
• Supply Wiring: Two wire supply, polarity sensitive
• Use with the OMDB-01 Base - sold separately. See Related Products
NOTE — These detectors are not standalone units.
They need to be connected to either the Fireboy FBD-2 or FBD-MZ Fire Detection Panels. There is no audible alarm on these detectors (panel will audibly alarm) and no visual alarm.
* Optical (photoelectric) smoke detectors are generally preferred over traditional ionization smoke detectors because they are more sensitive to smoldering fires, which produce more smoke and are more common in boats, RVs and homes. They are also less prone to false alarms from cooking fumes or steam.
