Oval Hinged Hatches - Cast Aluminum

Freeman oval hinged hatches have a unique hinging device that allows the hatch to be opened more than 180° and "floats" when the hatch is closed to facilitate a tighter seal.
Standard models have a cast aluminum cover, aluminum dogging mechanism and your choice of cast aluminum or steel mounting rings.
• Aluminum Deck Rings are intended to be weld installed into aluminum decks and bolt installed into other deck materials
• Steel Deck Rings are to be weld installed into steel decks only

• Provides a watertight seal to 30 foot intermittent head, and continuous 10 foot head top-loaded pressure when properly installed

• Round hatches 18" and larger, and all oval and square hatches with aluminum covers are available hinged from the factory
• 15" x 24" clear opening dimension is a standard used by many throughout the world as a crawl-through access opening

Features unique to Freeman Hatches
• The built-in, pocketed stainless steel T-handle is permanently part of the hatch. Pulling up on the handle and turning it less than 1/4 turn disengages the locking mechanism. The alignment of the handle shows whether the dogging arms are engaged or disengaged.
• Evenly spaced dogging arms exert uniform sealing pressure on the cover plate with no binding or jamming of parts.
• Each dogging arm can be individually adjusted to ensure even presure on the gasket sealing surface.
Adjusted to the proper tension, a Freeman hatch can't be over or under tightened by mistake.
