Installing a Harken Small Boat Furling System allows the dinghy sailor, or trailerable cruising sailor, to set and furl the jib from the cockpit.
Small Boat units are for furling only, not reefing.
This #483 Small Boat Furing System includes a Hoistable Halyard Swivel in addition to the standard upper swivel. This allows you to raise or lower the sail without removing the headstay. The Halyard Swivel is independent of the headstay, allowing you to tension the luff separately from the mast rake.
In contrast, in Small Boat Furlers without a hoistable halyard swivel, the forestay must be removed to lower the sail.
The furling drums and halyard swivels of this furling system features multiple stacked ball bearing races to ensure smooth rotation under load.
Requires a jib with a 4mm luff wire properly seized to the sail.
Maximum working load 950 lb. Use for:
Dinghies 16 to 20 ft (6.1 m)
Catamarans to 18 ft (5.5 m)
• For furling only, not reefing
