Type R IntelliSteer System - for Kicker and Auxiliary Engines to 30 HP

Typically installed on boats with outboard engines, but applicable to other installations, IntelliSteer Wireless Controllers free you from the need to hand steer your boat from the helm.
IntelliSteer provides wireless jog steering via a handheld pendant from anywhere on the boat - even below decks.

Extremely popular with fishermen, this Type R IntelliSteer System adds push-button wireless steering control to your auxiliary kicker motor — allowing you to concentrate on fishing without having to constantly run to the helm to make course adjustments.

Although overwhelmingly used for trolling motors, the Type R Wireless Steerer can also be used on smaller outboard engines up to 30 horsepower, which would otherwise be steered manually (tiller steered).
Note - Since most larger outboards are hydraulically steered these days, IntelliSteer does not offer a wireless system designed for large tiller or cable steered outboards.

How it works...
The IntelliSteer Type R System is an add-on mechanical steering drive designed to work with the included "black box" Wireless Receiver/Controller on powerboats fitted with an auxiliary kicker motor. The Wireless Controller, in turn gets steering instructions from a handheld Wireless Pendant.
The Type R Wireless Steerer is recommeded for use at trolling speeds only.

The Type R drive unit is combination electric motor and rotary cable drive with a solenoid clutch. Its compact design provides flexibility in selecting a suitable mounting location.
The system includes a steering cable which is fitted directly to the kicker motor via a connection kit. This allows the system to be easily installed on most types of auxiliary kicker motors that include a tilt tube.
Connecting the supplied steering cable to your kicker motor will require separate purchase of an Outboard Link Arm Assembly. IntelliSteer Link Arms for Mercury Mariner, Suzuki, and Yamaha engines are available from Fisheries. Link Arm Connectors for other manufacturers are available from your kicker motor dealer.

The IntelliSteer R's electronic clutch mechanism disengages when the wireless system is not in use - allowing for normal manual steering.

If desired, a second Wireless Pendant Control can be added to the system. It can be "paired" to your existing receiver in the field.

If you do not have a kicker motor on your boat, but are looking for a wireless steering system, there are other IntelliSteer systems which bundle an IntelliSteer Wireless Controller with a specially designed steering drive unit.

The "black box" IntelliSteer Wireless Controller is designed to be used with any reversing steering drive unit requiring less than 25A peak operating current, whether mechanical or hydraulic.
IntelliSteer systems are not suitable for use on boats with a positive ground system.
NOTE — Do not install this unit on vessels whose top speed exceeds 40 mph, or whose engine exceeds the size recommended by the hull manufacturer.
