Type T Wireless Steering System - for Tilt Steering Helms

IntelliSteer Wireless Controllers free you from the need to hand steer your boat from the helm, providing wireless jog steering via a handheld pendant from anywhere on the boat - even below decks.

Popular for I/O boats with wheel steering via a cable to a sterndrive, this Type T IntelliSteer System adds push-button wireless steering control — allowing you to concentrate on cruising or fishing without having to constantly run to the helm to make course adjustments.
Compared to the nearly identical Type S System, the Type T is designed for use with Tilt Steering Wheel installations.

• If your cable steered sterndrive has a non-tilting straight shaft helm, you should install the Type S version of this wireless steering kit; see Related Products link below.
• If your sterndrive or outboard has hydraulic steering, you'll want to install an IntelliSteer Type H Wireless Steerer, see below.

How it works...
The IntelliSteer Type T System includes a rotary drive designed to replace your existing helm unit behind the dashboard.*
The replacement rotary drive is powered by an electric motor linked to the included "black box" Wireless Receiver/Controller which, in turn, receives steering signals from a handheld Wireless Pendant.

The rotary drive includes an electronic clutch mechanism to engage the steering cable.
The clutch mechanism disengages when the wireless system is not in use - allowing for normal manual steering.

* The Type T helm requires 10" of space behind the dashboard. With the use of accessory Tilt Spacer kits, this distance can be shortened to 9" if necessary. Refer to the Installation Manual link at the bottom of this entry for more details.

Some caveats —
The Type T rotary drive can be used with most common brands of mechanical rotary and rack & pinion steering helm units.
The kit includes adapters for many types of push-pull steering cables including: Morse 304411, Teleflex SSC52, SSC61, SSC62, SSC72, U-flex M47, M66.
The Type T rotary drive can be used with rack and pinion steering systems, but the steering cable will have to be replaced with an IntelliSteer or Teleflex SCC62 rotary style cable.
NOTE — If your current helm unit is a NFB No-Feedback model, installing the Type T System will result in a loss of the No-Feedback feature - requiring a period of adjustment to the new feedback "feel". This could well be a deal breaker for some helmsmen.

If desired, a second Wireless Controller Pendant can be added to the system. It can be "paired" to your existing receiver in the field.

If you do not have push-pull cable steering on your boat, but are looking for a wireless steering system, there are other IntelliSteer systems which bundle an IntelliSteer Wireless Controller with a specially designed steering drive unit.
These include:
• IntelliSteer Type H - provides remote steering for hydraulically steered boats
• IntelliSteer Type R - provides remote steering for kicker or smaller primary outboards

The "black box" IntelliSteer Wireless Controller is designed to be used with any reversing steering drive unit requiring less than 25A peak operating current, whether mechanical or hydraulic.
IntelliSteer systems are not suitable for use on boats with a positive ground system.
NOTE — Do not install this unit on vessels whose top speed exceeds 40 mph, or whose engine exceeds the size recommended by the hull manufacturer.
