InterProtect 2000E Underwatr Primer & Barrier Coat

Interprotect 2000E is a two-part epoxy barrier coating developed to protect new and used fiberglass hulls from water absorption.
With its unique, epoxy and overlapping mica "Microplate" barrier formulation to inhibit water permeation, Interprotect® 200E is Interlux's premium underwater epoxy primer and barrier coating.
It offers outstanding performance and long-term effectiveness.
InterProtect features excellent adhesion to fiberglass, composite, wood, and is suitable for use above and below the waterline as a universal primer for all surfaces.

Due to its anti-­corrosion properties, InterProtect 2000E is also ideal for use as a primer for all metals - including aluminum - below or above the waterline.
Furthermore, it is ideal as an undercoat/filling primer in the repair of cracks in fiberglass decks.

Long overcoating times between coats (up to 2 weeks) adds versatility and timing flexibility when working in busy boatyards - where schedules can change at a moment's notice.
For repair of damaged areas where gelcoat has been damaged or removed, or fiberglass laminate is exposed, seal with a 2-part marine epoxy as a sealing coat prior to application of Interprotect 2000E.

Interprotect offers a significant step up from Interlux's value-oriented single part Primacon underwater primer.
If you are looking for superior above the waterline priming, we recommmend Interlux 404/414 two-part epoxy primer for its easier sanding qualities.

InterProtect 2000E features –
• Microplate® mica flakes create an overlapping barrier to protect against water migration
• Use as a barrier on new or in-service fiberglass hulls, and also as part of a gelcoat blister repair protocol
• Excellent primer for underwater metals such as keels, struts, shafts and running gear
• Safe for use on aluminum hulls and outdrives
• Compatible with Interlux primers, antifoulings and Interfill fairing compounds
• Most Interlux antifouling paints can be applied directly over Interprotect; however, vinyl antifouling paints are not compatible
• Do not apply over one-part paints
• Available in white and gray for light or dark overcoating
• All kits include base and curing agent
• Application by brush, 3/8" nap solvent resistant roller, or conventional or airless spray
• Thinner: Reducing Solvent 2316N or Brushing Liquid 2333N
• 45% solids (by volume)
• Theoretical coverage by brush or roller is 240 ft²/gallon; 2 - 3 coats recommended, 3 on bare wood, 5 - 6 coats on metal surfaces*
• Theoretical coverage by airless spray is 135 ft²/gallon, practical coverage by airless spray is 105 ft²/gallon
• Recommended WFT per coat is 5.6 mils wet by brush/roller, 12 mils wet by spray
• Recommended DFT per coat is 2.6 mils dry by brush/roller, 5.4 mils dry by spray


*To figure out how much paint is necessary for below the waterline surfaces, use the following formula:
Wetted Surface Area (WSA) = LOA x Beam x 0.85
Divide the WSA by 60 when brushing or rolling
Divide the WSA by 45 when spraying
The number you calculate will be the number of gallons necessary to reach 10 mils of dry film thickness
