Performance Mantus Anchor – Galvanized, the anchor that sets the First time, Every time.
The M1 Model is equipped with a roll-bar that aids in the anchor's ability to roll over, even on soft silty bottoms. This design negates the necessity for a nose ballast, resulting in the most efficient and streamlined fluke cross-section. The shape of the M1 anchor shank is engineered to ensure that the anchor self-deploys in the majority of bow roller configurations. Furthermore, the M1 Performance models have been enhanced to feature a more robust shank and improved foils, optimizing performance in soft mud conditions. This anchor is capable of handling a variety of environments, ranging from soft silty mud to hard, dense ocean floors.
The Mantus Anchor is engineered to penetrate thick, grassy bottoms and provides exceptional holding strength. The M1 Performance model has further enhanced its ability to hold in soft mud. The rear foils of the anchor adjust the angle of attack, thereby improving its performance in soft mud conditions. Additionally, the anchor now incorporates a keep that strengthens the nose, along with a slotted shank design that enhances the shank's durability. In testing, these anchors have demonstrated the ability to set more quickly and deeply than any other anchors evaluated, including Rocna, Manson Supreme, Bulwagga, Fortress, Bruce, CQR, and Danforth anchors.
The Mantus Marine anchor collection undoubtedly offers the finest boat anchors on the market, catering to long-range cruisers, racers, or those embarking on a day sail. The Mantus quick-set anchor is designed for easy storage and can be disassembled, allowing you to keep one or two as backup without occupying significant space on your boat.
• Formed out of high-quality steel plate. Contains no cast parts.
• Shank and shank boot are welded from top and bottom.
• Shank and roll bar are bolted to the fluke.
• ASTM certified steel bolts are oversized with a large margin to ensure safety.
• Although the shank is attached to the fluke with 4 bolts, a single bolt has sufficient strength to handle the maximum expected load on the anchor.
• Stainless Steel anchors feature a 2205 Duplex shank and 316L stainless steel fluke. The surface is hardened by shot-peening and are then electro-polished to provide maximum corrosion resistance.
• In the carbon steel version, every part of the anchor system is hot-dip galvanized for corrosion protection. (All shanks are HT ASTM 514 Steel and flukes are mild steel A36 equivalent)
• Sharp-headed nose is precision machined to achieve the perfect chisel shape to achieve maximum penetrating power.
Anchor Sizing Guide
See image above to determine what size of anchor to use:
When making sizing recommendations for a working anchor we are generally referring to the needs of a cruising boat spending most of its time on anchor, in doing so we try to envelope high sustained winds (40 kts) and assume poor holding conditions (low viscosity bottoms). Some may think these recommendations to be too conservative especially when compared to sizing tables from other manufacturers. Companies often make claims of superior anchor efficiency, stating that their small anchor X will outperform a much heavier anchor from their competitors and often use sizing charts as a marketing tool to that end, recommending anchors and anchor systems that are dangerously undersized for their intended use. Comparing surface area can be a good judge for potential holding capability. Our anchor sizing recommendations are presented in the table below and we divided in three categories: Lunch Anchor category is recommended for lighter use, expected winds under 25 knots, working anchor for winds under 40 knots and finally, storm anchor recommendations are intended for winds up to 60 knots. These recommendations are made assuming the worst-case scenario, a poor holding bottom and thus may seem conservative but we believe are accurate.
