900 GPH Low Profile Bilge Pump - 12V, Automatic

Designed to bring pumping power to tight spaces. Rule’s LoPro Series Bilge Pumps are only 2-1/4" high.

The 900S "Automatic" model pumps when water is sensed in the bilge, and does not require a separate float switch. It also has a second "water depth" mode which activates the pump when the bilge water level reaches 2" or 1.3" (user's choice).
This pump is also available in a traditional Non-Automatic model that activated by a separate float switch - see Related Products, below.

These pumps feature a threaded discharge nozzle, and multiple discharge ports are included with the pump — 3/4", 1", and 1-1/8" straight hose barbs; as well as a 3/4" 90° elbow port.

Heavy on the technical side...

"Automatic" bilge pumps feature computerized operation based on the principle of impeller resistance. Float switches are not required.
The pump turns on every 2-1/2 minutes for about one second to sense for water in the bilge. If water is present, the pump will sense resistance and continue to run until the water is removed. Thereafter, it continues to check for water every 2-1/2 minutes. Power use in the checking mode is minumal.

Note — The capacity of ALL centrifugal bilge pumps, regardless of manufacturer, is rated at "open flow" - with no hoses or resistance to impede output. In actual use, however, the work of lifting the bilge water out of the boat will decrease the output of the pump. The higher the lift, the less the output.
For a smaller bilge pump like this one, expect an output decrease of about 8% per foot of lift — about 85% of rated capacity when the outlet thru-hull is 2 ft above the pump, and about 75% of rated output at 3 ft above the pump. Purchase a higher capacity pump if that seems prudent.
