The Sherwood P1733X is a Bronze Engine Cooling Pump designed solely for the pump end, featuring a Neoprene Impeller and lacking Port Elbows on both the Inlet and Discharge ports. This bronze pump exhibits corrosion resistance and is equipped with a high chrome nickel stainless steel slotted drive shaft.
Additional characteristics of this pump include a convenient drain plug, a machined-in cam, flange mounting, and vertical inlet and outlet ports. It is designed with two distinct seals: one located on the main pump and another on the flange mounting. The Flexible Impeller within this pump produces significant rubbing friction unless adequately lubricated by the liquid being pumped. Insufficient liquid will lead to rapid degradation of the impeller. During the initial start-up, the pump must be primed to avert dry-running of the impeller. This pump is self-priming and can achieve self-priming at both low and high speeds.
It will commence pumping immediately, and a suction lift of 15 feet is achievable when the impeller is wet and the pump is fully primed. It is essential that suction lines are airtight for the pump to self-prime. The construction of the pump utilizes marine-grade bronze and stainless steel, ensuring durability and reliability. This pump consists of a single moving part—a robust, long-lasting, wear-resistant flexible impeller that is lubricated by the liquid being pumped. There is no metal-to-metal pumping action, eliminating the risk of gears jamming, clogging, or generating noise.
The pump will not experience air lock; it will continue to function even when air traverses the system, providing a smooth, consistent, pulsation-free flow. These pumps are engineered to be fully serviceable and can be restored to like-new condition after extended use, thus preventing the need for complete pump replacement. The temperature limits for the Neoprene impeller in this pump range from 45 degrees F to 180 degrees F (7 degrees C to 82 degrees C). Pumping water at temperatures lower than 45 degrees F will reduce the lifespan of the impeller.
