SikaForce®-7800 Red is a two component polyurethane-based profile and surface filler packaged in a familiar 10 oz cartridge.
Although developed for use as a fast-setting surface filler for wind turbine blade repairs, this product has been met with enthusiasm by the marine industry where it is used for quick repairs to gelcoat and fiberglass surfaces.
Properties of particular interest are:
• Familiar polyurethane chemistry
• Excellent adhesion to fiberglass surfaces and gel-coat surfaces
• Fast sanding times of 40 or even 25 minutes (at approx. 60°F and 75°F respectively - see graph)
• Easy to sand without caking or clogging sandpaper
• Ability to be sanded to a fine feather edge
• Packaged as 6.6 oz (195 ml) of total product in a 10 oz cartridge - no need for separate mixing
• Excellent mixing, application and tooling properties
• Thixotropic paste consistency - non-sag up to layer thicknesses of approximately 3/4" (20 mm)
• Shelf life — 9 months (@ 50-85°F)
Requires a specialized mixing tip. One mixing tip is included with each cartridge. You will almost certainly need additional mixing tips. They are sold separately - part number SIK 60088.
The curing of SikaForce-7800 Red takes place by chemical reaction of the two components. Higher temperatures speed up the curing process and lower temperatures
slow down the curing process.
SikaForce-7800 Red works best at temperature above 59°F (15 °C). If ambient temperatures are lower than 59°F it is advisable to use SikaForce®-7800 Blue.
Uncured SikaForce-7800 Red may be removed from tools and equipment with mineral spirits, or SikaRemover®-208. Once cured, the material can only be removed mechanically.
As usual, test first with actual substrates and conditions to ensure adhesion and material compatibility.
SikaForce®-7800 Red is manufactured in accordance with ISO 9001/14001 quality assurance system and with the responsible care program.
