• Note: this version is specific for Spinlock vests!
The MOB1 is intended to be installed inside your inflatable life-jacket and will activate automatically on inflation, sending the first alert within 15 seconds.
The integrated strobe light ensures maximum visibility in low light conditions.
The MOB1 communicates with the vessel you have been separated from and other vessels in the vicinity (up to 5 miles range dependent on sea conditions). To alert rescue authorities, an alternative product the rescueME PLB1 communicates directly via a dedicated search and rescue satellite network.
The best chance of rapid rescue if you fall overboard comes from your own vessel. Your crew needs to be immediately aware of the incident and keep track of your position while recovery operations are carried out.
Even in the most moderate of seas it is alarming how quickly visual sighting of a man overboard can be lost. As few as two or three waves between you and the boat can obscure your position completely.
In an emergency rescueME MOB1 provides 2 methods of rapidly communicating your position - accurate to a few meters - back to the vessel. Plus it provides a visual beacon via its built in strobe light.
• Once activated, your MOB1 will transmit an alert to all AIS* receivers and AIS enabled plotters in the vicinity. The integrated GPS ensures a precise location is sent to your vessel and any others that may be assisting.
• A second feature of the MOB1, is its ability to activate the DSC alarm on your vessel's VHF - alerting your crew to the situation.
The MOB1 is compatible with most modern AIS plotters and DSC VHF radios. If you are using older plotters and radios, however, please check for compatibility with the equipment manufacturer before purchasing.

To be clear —If your vessel is alone in the ocean, and someone wearing it falls overboard...unless your vessel is equipped with an AIS-enabled chart plotter or AIS receiver or transponder, or at least has a DSC-enabled radio to sound an alarm, this device becomes just a fancy strobe light.
* AIS (Automatic Identification System) devices transmit and receive (or just receive or transmit) coded VHF frequency signals between AIS instrument equipped vessels, aiding them in avoiding collisions. The AI system has also been adapted for use in aiding man overboard rescues.
