Description
Removable babystays have many uses. They can take small sails such as jibs, solents, staysails or even stormsails on a regular basis, but also can be stowed at the mast or shroud to clear the foredeck for tacking a large genoa. Depending on its position on the mast, a babystay may also serve to minimize mast pumping. A removable inner forestay is also recommended as an emergency backup on sloops rigged with a roller furling system.
