Description
3M's versatile 501C discs are suitable for use on a wide variety of metals.
They are one of the "go to" discs for use on marine grade aluminum alloys.
Aluminum zirconia abrasive provides heavy stock removal, and is a good option for both stainless and mild steel applications.
It is at the higher end of 3M's basic value line of grinding discs.

User Tip — Especially with coarser 36 and 24 grits, we recommend the use of an extra hard red ribbed backing plate for cooler running and prolonged disc life; see Related Products, below.
For higher performance discs, consider 3M's 785C (Cubitron and aluminum oxide blended abrasive) for stainless steel or marine aluminum, and 988C (pure Cubitron abrasive) for carbon steel. See Related Products, below.
