5952 VHB Doubled Sided Foam Tape - Black, 6" x 36 yd

VHB Tape 4952 is a soft, extra conformable, double-sided, pressure-sensitive, closed-cell acrylic foam tape with a polyethylene film liner.
The foam carrier used provides the highest level of conformability to irregular surfaces, while maintaining high internal strength.
It is especially suitable for applications where one, or both, substrates are flexible, although it also works equally well with rigid substrates

With a modified acrylic adhesive, 5952 bonds to many high surface energy (adhesive friendly) substrates - such as metals, glass, painted or sealed wood, concrete, and painted or powder-coated surfaces.
It exhibits medium adhesion to low surface energy plastics such as rigid PVC, polystyrene, ABS, acrylics (such as Plexiglas®), and polycarbonates (such as Lexan®).
Do not use on platicized vinyl.
Among 3M's VHB tapes, 4952 adheres to the broadest range of substrates.

VHB Tapes combine the strength of a mechanical fastener with the convenience and simplicity of a tape.
They form instant, permanent bonds with no drying time, no mess, and are a convenient and proven alternative to nails, screws, or rivets.

• Note that VHB Tapes typically have low resistance to UV degradation. When used outdoors, and particularly in glazing applications - as they commonly are - they must be protected by a frit or other UV barrier

For a VHB tape with higher adhesion to low surface energy substrates, 3M offers VHB 4932 (25 mil) and VHB 4952 (45 mil) which are firm foam tapes suitable for flat rigid surfaces.
