This 400 Series paper is constructed using a silicon carbide mineral abrasive and a flexible backing.
Primarily used for hand sanding, you get the full advantage of the sharper silicon carbide compared to aluminum oxide.
When used with water, this paper allows you to use more pressure to get good cutting, especially with these fine grits, while the water acts as both a lubricant and reduces loading.

• Faster cutting than aluminum oxide papers with more consistent finish
• While it cuts faster, the silicon carbide abrasive is not as durable as aluminum oxide abrasives, but this is less of an issue with hand sanding compared to machine sanding
