ES Shutdown System - 5 20A Circuits, Round Display

The ES Series of Automatic Engine Shutdown Systems is Fireboy's original "Standard" system for mechanically controlled diesel engines. They function by shutting off the fuel supply to the engine(s).

Three models are available for shutting down 3 - 8 circuits with relays featuring an operating range of 200 mA to 20 amps.
The 5000 and 8000 series have a model available with a 15-second timer for use with fuel solenoids on Detroit Diesel engines that can be damaged by a constantly applied voltage.
All ES models operate on 12, 24 or 32V DC vessel systems.

Installation of an Automatic Marine Engine Shutdown is required by the USCG for boats with equipment that draws air from within the protected engine room space.
This is because compressed gas suppressants such as FK-5-1-12 and HFC-227ea will not stall a diesel engine, and through its air intake, a running diesel engine can suck the agent out of the engine compartment, lowering the concentration required to extinguish the fire. Therefore, if a fire breaks out in the engine spaces of a diesel powered vessel, the engine(s) must be shut down immediately for the fire suppression system to extinguish the fire. This makes an Automatic Engine Shutdown System necessary.
Fireboy Engine Shutdown Systems are linked to the pressure switch on the cannister and automatically shut down engines, generators, and blower systems when the agent deploys.


ES Engine Shutdown Systems consist of a Shutdown Control Module and a Helm-mounted Status Display Unit with a system Override switch. Both module and display are typically installed at the helm for easy visibility and access to the ignition wiring.
• Shutdown circuits are available for the shutdown of gasoline or diesel engines, generators, dampers, louvers, and other types of related engine room equipment
• Select the model with the number of circuits you need
• Most models are available with a round (DU-RBH-20) or square (DU-SBH-20) water resistant display with an integrated audible alarm, “Charged/Discharged” status lights, and a manual override switch necessary for engine re-start. Square Displays add an illumination intensity control selector button
• Displays include a 3 ft connecting cable with a molded three-prong plug for easy connection to the shutdown control module. (Extension cables (FRB B-2170-x) are available separately.)
• Additional display units and wire harnesses are available for a second helm station

The Override Switch allows the engines to be re-started after a fire-related system discharge so the vessel can return to port for repairs under its own power.
