#40 Radial Electric Two-Speed Self-Tailing Winch - Aluminum, Horizontal Motor, 12V

Electric Radial winches let you trim any size sail with the push of a button. Harken electric motors attach to the central driveshaft and apply power through the winch transmission gears for a two-speed mechanical advantage - the low power first gear for fast trimming, the higher power second gear for fine-tuning loaded sheets. This allows use of a smaller, more efficient motor that saves batteries, weight, and cost. You can press one of two switch buttons for the desired speed.

Operation is by use of simple waterproof switches that are located near the winch. Inserting a locking handle, when the winch is not under load, automatically disconnects the electric motor gearbox for racing and cruising without electric power. This is important if you've lost power on the boat. If power is restored, the lockout prevents the winch handle from turning.

The Radial winch drum’s gripping surface is shaped for each winch size and drum material and features diagonal ribs (rather than textured abrasive materials) to maximize gripping power and greatly reduce line wear. The self-tailing mechanism on the winch means that one crew member can quickly and easily trim or raise sails.

High-strength composite roller bearings and bushings reduce friction under load. Load-carrying gears and pins are 17-4 PH stainless steel for strength, corrosion resistance. BR>

• Manual Radial winches can easily be upgraded to power - they have identical hole patterns and don’t require an adapter plate

Each electric winch requires one control box (included), one circuit breaker, and two analog switches or one Digital System Dual Function Switch - see Accessory Products, below. All current electric Radial winches are now supplied with the appropriate dual-function control box.
