High-Speed Scoop Strainer, Bronze, 1-1/2"

These pickups have a generous neck length to fit any hull thickness. They have straight pipe threads for the securing nut which blend into a tapered pipe thread at the end for a secure connection to pipe fittings or valves*.

Note: Scoop-style strainers are not recommended for sailboat and genset installations – where water could possibly be forced into the engine while underway with the engine off.


* Marine Hardware thru-hulls and water pickups are cast of red bronze, also known as naval bronze, the most corrosion-resistant copper alloy available.
These fittings are cast with a very sturdy wall thickness and machined with straight pipe thread, which blends into tapered pipe thread at the end of the neck. This tapered thread configuration mates with virtually any pipe fitting or valve without the need for adapter connections (thread sealant or Teflon® tape recommended for a leak-proof seal).

Note: A wired connection to a cathodic bonding system to ensure proper service life is highly recommended.
