Based on the successful original Rocna anchor, the Vulcan design offers greater compatibility across a wide range of vessel bow configurations – particularly powerboats with an enclosed bow roller assembly, as well as sailboats with bowsprits.
The Vulcan anchor is an ideal alternative for boats that can't accommodate the roll-bar on the original Rocna design.
The omission of the roll-bar combined with a strong I-beam shank profile ensures a snug fit on the bows of a wide range of vessels.
Bow platforms, bowsprits, and stays are easily cleared.
The curved shank also encourages self-launching and smooth retrieval on a majority of bow rollers for exceptional ease of use.
The Vulcan's sophisticated shank and fluke geometry, along with a roll-palm™ at the rear of the fluke, self-rights the anchor on the seabed without the use of either a roll-bar or a large mass of tip ballast.
The Vulcan has a larger fluke surface area than other designs that rely on dedicated tip weight. The larger fluke area directly equates to more holding power and security on a weight-for-weight basis.
Shank strength is achieved by a unique I-beam geometry provides increased resistance to bending as well as improved setting performance by placing the cutting edge of the tip at the ideal angle for fast and deep burial in the seabed.
When you handle this anchor, you will appreciate the Vulcan's quality workmanship and attention to detail - from high quality welds to chamfering the edges of the shank for aesthetics and comfort when handling.
Features –
• Elimination of the roll-bar provides a snug fit on the bow of any boat, including those with platforms and bowsprits
• Suitable for large yachts and powerboats down to small runabouts; models from 9 lb to 121 lb
• Unique shank and fluke geometry and innovative roll-palm™ self-right the anchor on the seabed
• Larger fluke area than competing designs means more holding power
• V-bulb™ fin on bottom of anchor angles the tip for maximum penetration
• Self-launching and self-stowing on the majority of bow rollers
• Truly functional, low-positioned attachment hole for tandem anchoring in extreme conditions, with a separate attachment point for a buoyed retrieval line
• Available in polished stainless steel or galvanized steel

Selecting a Vulcan anchor
To select the proper size Vulcan anchor for your boat, use the sizing chart brochure linked in the Manufacturers Resources on the right.
Note that to get the best fit your vessel's length and displacement are used to determine the anchor size:
Find your vessel’s overall length in the column on the left, then track across that row toward the right until you find the first column with a displacement (in pounds) the same or larger than the displacement of your vessel.
Track upward to the top of that column for the recommended Vulcan anchor size.
The rows at the bottom of the chart give equivalent anchor weights in pounds and kilograms, recommended chain sizes, and fluke areas.
If in doubt about the proper size, give preference to the larger anchor model. Relatively high displacement or high windage vessels should choose a larger anchor, while a smaller anchor may be appropriate for especially light displacement boats.
Multi-hulls, with their very high windage, should size as though for a monohull, then choose an anchor one size larger.
The Vulcan sizing chart is conservative. Unlike other manufacturers, Vulcan sizing recommendations are intended to provide an anchor adequate for use in most all conditions. Calculations are based on 50 knots of wind, associated surge, and soft, moderate holding bottom conditions into which the anchor has set. Adequate scope is assumed. These recommendations provide holding power in excess of that typicallly recommended by other manufacturers...but you will sleep better at night.
