When choosing a Selden sheeve, you can consider the following factors:
Bearing type: The most important difference between sheeves are the type of bearing. A larger contact area between bearing and sheave results in more friction, but also increases the load capacity. Ball bearings are only loaded at a small surface, while plain or bush bearings have nothing to reduce friction.
Sheave diameter: Selden sheeves are available in 28 to 70 mm diameters and 8 to 16 mm bearing diameter. The bigger the bearing diameter, the lower the friction of the sheave.
Rope diameter: The rope's diameter must match the block sheave's width to prevent early wear.
