GPX is Samson's highest-performing sailing line – a cutting-edge rigging line for the elite grand prix-level racer.
The GPX core is a custom blend of High Modulus Polyethylene (HMPE) Dyneema® SK99 for incredible strength and DM20 for no creep – providing the highest elastic stiffness with zero creep.
The rope's cover is a special blend of Technora® aramid and polyester fibers providing maximum performance with superior grip, excellent durability, as well as resistance to heat.

A lightweight, core-dependent line (the core carries the load), GPX combines the highest strength with extremely low stretch.
The GPX core is Samthane™ coated to match the color of the cover, making the line strippable, if desired, for greater weight savings without impacting its strength.
The Samthane coating is abrasion resistant, and has different formulations depending on the specific rope fiber types. It adds firmness, greatly improves wear life, and also reduces cutting and snagging, and resists contamination.

With the introduction of GPX, Samson is also changing the way recreational marine lines are discussed by focusing on a more useful specification for sailors:   Elastic Stiffness – the resistance to stretch under load.
Until now, emphasis has been on the strength of a line. While strength is important, it is not indicative of what a sailor experiences during actual use.
Since Samson’s rope is already stronger than sailors need, they took their cue from professional racers who look at elastic stiffness as the most meaningful measurement of responsiveness in use. Each of Samson’s new running rigging lines now lists elastic stiffness as one of its specifications, allowing sailors to be more discerning in their choice of rigging lines.
