An upgraded version of Samson's popular MLX line, newly metric sized MLX3 is a club racer’s dream – super light and amazingly strong to keep you in the lead during those club races.
Built of a first-of-its-kind blended HMPE and nylon core, with a 24-strand polyester cover, MLX3 offers the best line for the recreational racer who is just as competitive as the pros, but doesn't want to go to extremes. Now also available 11mm.
Although MLX3 is designed for the club racer, it is also an excellent line for the performance-oriented cruiser.

MLX3 is a lightweight, core-dependent line (the core carries the load) that has excellent strength with very low stretch.
The core is Samthane™ coated to match the color of the cover, making the line strippable for greater weight savings without impacting its strength.
The Samthane coating is abrasion resistant, and has different formulations depending on the specific rope fiber types. It adds firmness, greatly improves wear life, and also reduces cutting and snagging, and resists contamination.

Use Samson's MLX3 in club racing and performance cruising for – halyards, mainsheets, spinnaker sheets, jib/genoa sheets, and control lines.

With the introduction of MLX3, Samson is also changing the way recreational marine lines are discussed by focusing on a more useful specification for sailors:   Elastic Stiffness – the resistance to stretch under load.
Until now, emphasis has been on the strength of a line. While strength is important, it is not indicative of what a sailor experiences during actual use.
Since Samson’s rope is already stronger than sailors need, they took their cue from professional racers who look at elastic stiffness as the most meaningful measurement of responsiveness in use. Each of Samson’s new running rigging lines now lists elastic stiffness as one of its specifications, allowing sailors to be more discerning in their choice of rigging lines.

Compared to the original MLX, MLX3 has been re-calibrated for accurate metric sizing, with resulting slight strength and stretch differences. Accurate metric sizing improves MLX3's fit and performance with a broad range of rigging hardware.
