Fastmount clips form the ideal quick-release system for securely installing removable seat backs or cushions, headliner and wall panels, cosmetic covers for inspection hatches and storage spaces, settee cushions, etc.
The Fastmount System uses male and female fixings - called "clips" - which recess or surface mount on panel/seat back and substrate.
Fastmount clips are a superior alternative to hook & loop and other types of recloseable fastener systems.
They easily snap together or apart, are available in standard or heavy duty strengths, and never lose their holding power.
This PC-M1 Standard Profile male clip mates with any of the Standard Profile female clips. They easily snap together and snap apart. The PC-M1 has a pull out force of 11 lb.
In most applications, the PC-M1 male clip is paired with the PC-F1 female socket clip.
Fastmount "clips" are available in 3 profile ranges: Standard Profile, Low Profile, and Very Low Profile.
“Profile” refers to the thickness of the support substrate. The thickness and material of the support substrate will determine the type of clip best suited to your application – the thinner the substrate, the lower the profile. Refer to the linked resources for selection and installation guidance.
Clips are also available in a Metal range for heavy load bearing, heat resistant and acoustic or vibration isolation applications. And there is a Textile range for fabric and leather mounting in seat backs and cushions, and cosmetic panels.
Regardless of the clip profile or range selected, the gap between the mounted panel and the substrate is always
about 1/8 - 3/16" (3-4mm) when the panel/seat back is in place.
To fit a wide variety of substrate materials and application requirements, clips are available for recessed mounting or surface mounting on thin substrates like steel framing.
And in the Standard profile range, edge-mounted and masonry/drywall options are also available.
Suitable substrates for the Fastmount System include wood, plywood, MDF, steel frame, brick, concrete, drywall, fabrics, acoustic and honeycomb panels.
In a typical installation, female clips are mounted in selected locations on the substrate surface.
Plastic center-point locator tools are temporarily inserted into the female clips and used to locate the corresponding mounting positions of the male clips on the removeable panel, seat cushion, etc.
The male clips are then mounted in the positions indicated, and the removeable item can then be snapped into place. Refer to the linked resource documents for installation details.
The end result is a hidden mounting system which allows easy panel installation and removal for change out, access, or maintenance.
Fastmount System benefits include:
• Repeatedly remove and refit panels with no loss of holding power
• Install in fiberglass, wood, plywood, MDF, plastic, HPL, sandwich or composite panels, or drywall and masonry (use LP-DF8 coarse thread female clip)
• Specialized clips available for thin-walled, textile (e.g. seat cushions) and metal applications
• Rounded shape of the male clips provides fast, easy panel alignment and secure mounting every time
• Saves time and reduces cost
• 11 lb (Standard) or 22 lb (Heavy-Duty) pull-out force depending on male clip selected
• All male and female clips within a particular range (standard, low profile, very low profile, metal, textile) can be used with each other
• Allows for flexing and expansion of panel and support frame
• Panels are easier to remove and accurately replace than panels installed with "reclosable fasteners"
• Clips are made of tough, long-lasting acetyl copolymer
PC-M1(A/B) Standard Profile Male Clip features...
This male self-tapping clip is suitable for most interior/exterior panel and cover mounting applications, and is typically paired with the PC-F1 self-tapping female socket; See Related Products.
• Shallow 5.5mm (3/16") mounting depth – can be installed in panels and coverings as thin as 7mm (9/32")
• Compatible with all four standard profile female clips – PC-F1A, PC-SF1, PC-RF1, and PC-AF1
• Screws (self-taps) into a 10.0 mm diameter hole made using the CT-01 pointed drill bit for drilling through the panel, or the CT-09 Forstner drill bit for creating a blind hole in the panel (both found in the CT-08 Installation Kit, or user supplied)
• Screws (self-taps) into the item using the CT-10 male clip installation tool; see Accessories (and also found in the Installation Kit)
• This clip disengages with a pull-out force of 11 lb (5 kg) - and is color coded white
• Made of strong white acetyl copolymer
• Note — an A or B following a part number represents a revision in the design, but the function of the clip remains the same
Fastmount products are designed and made in New Zealand.
To ensure a quality finished product, it is highly recommended that you use Fastmount's specialty installation and removal tools when working with these fittings; see Accessory Products.
Fastmount removable panel mounting systems are well-suited for CNC machining, minimizing cost of manufacturing, yet assuring a superior final fit and finish. Panels can be easily removed and replaced with perfect alignment every time.
Modern construction materials and techniques can be combined with the Fastmount system to enable new build materials to be used. These can result in significant time and cost savings, while improving the quality of the finished work.
