SeaStar Outboard Steering Cylinders, Front Mount Cylinder - Used with Most Outboard Engines

Seastar Outboard Engine Hydraulic Steering offers three models of steering cylinders to suit most applications. The standard, and most commonly used, model are these Front Mount Steering Cylinders. (The others are Splashwell Mount and Side Mount cylinders.)
Available separately, or included in SeaStar® and SeaStar® Pro steering kits, these front mount cylinders allow you to have the best of both worlds: You get simplicity because no adapter plates are required - the cylinder bolts up directly to virtually any outboard.
• General purpose steering cylinder - use on cruisers, runabouts, center console boats, bass boats, offshore fishing vessels, etc.
• 4.5 turns lock-to-lock with SeaStar 1.7 helm (with single cylinder); 4.0 turns lock-to-lock with SeaStar Pro
• Easy steering - 20% less effort at hard-over than competitive systems
• Rigid tilt tube mount for no-compromise performance
• Unique pivoted tiller connection allows full engine articulation with independent tilt and trim on twin engines
• Improved bleeder fittings are integral with cylinder for greater durability and ease of use
• Painted components are anodized before coating for extra corrosion protection
• Small footprints fit virtually all splashwells
• Meets ABYC standards and NMMA requirements

Front mount steering cylinders for single, dual and triple, non-power assisted, outboard engines:
Single engines - up to 350 HP/75 MPH.
Dual engines - up to 600 combined HP/55 MPH.
Triple engines (with one counter-rotating) - up to 900 combined HP/55 MPH.
Note that these recommendations are lower than in the past, based on modern heavier, higher horsepower engines which produce more torque than in the past. (3/5/2012)

Some applications will require additional components - such as spacer kits.
Multiple engine applications will require tie bars.
