Velair Variable Speed Air Conditioners incorporate the best of modern technology – a dual rotary compressor with a brushless DC motor, an inverter that constantly controls speed and delivered cooling via a Variable Speed Drive, a reverse blade brushless fan, and an electronic expansion valve.
Available in two sizes: 10,000 or 16,000 BTU/h max output.
The units are supplied with a thin, surface-mounted, Wi-Fi enabled touch-control digital panel. The traditional rectangular mounting cut-out is eliminated; a simple round hole is all that is required to pass the data cable.
These are self-contained units, with no additional components to install except for a user-supplied seawater pump and fittings, air ducting, and cosmetic intake and outflow air grates.
Features –
• Heat pump reverse cycle operation - heat in winter, cool in summer
• Variable Speed Drive eliminates traditional "full on/full off" cycling for increased comfort and efficiency
• Keeps output airflow temperature constant to within 1°F
• Efficient seawater cooling
• Twin rotary compressors
• Compressor noise and vibrations almost zero
• Ramp-up start means no current surge during start-up
• Overall reduction of electricity consumption
• Constant flow technology fan
• Increase in component lifespan
• Thin, wall-mounted touch-control digital display does not require a cut-out (just a round hole for cabling)
• Wi-Fi: remote control via smartphone
• Self-contained – VSD VELAIR units meet EMC 2004/108/EC directives
• Designed and manufactured in Italy
VSD - Variable Speed Drive
The compressor continuously changes its running speed depending on the ambient and set temperatures. Initially, the compressor operates at maximum power to rapidly cool the cabins, but upon reaching the set temperature, it reduces both power and electric consumption. In this way it maintains the optimal comfort level with minimal noise and electrical consumption.
Twin Rotary A/C Compressor
Compared to single rotary compressors, Twin (Dual) Rotary Compressors feature two refrigerant compression chambers containing offset compression rollers oriented 180 degrees apart to balance the load. This results in significantly reduced vibration.
The twin rotary design also offers higher compression torques and rotational balancing, which translates into better overall efficiency.
The reduced vibrations also contribute to quieter operation.
Inverter Technology
Inverter technology, already used in residential air-conditioning, offers the following benefits in marine applications:
Compressors wear out, but inverter-controlled compressors wear out slower. Their ability to modulate operation reduces continuous strain on the system, leading to less wear and tear and, consequently, a longer operational life.
• No current surges during start-up
• Highest energy efficiency: overall reduction of electricity consumption – up to 40% lower than comparable models
• Perfect running using an inverter/charger, small generator or battery power sources
• Compressor noise and vibration reduced to almost zero
• Constant temperature output
• Longer operational lifespan
Brushless DC Motor
Lower friction and heat generation results in higher efficiency, longer lifespan, quieter operation, reduced maintenance, and better speed and torque control.
Electronic Expansion Valve
Offering higher efficiency, the incorporated electronic expansion valve can achieve a better balance between load and cooling capacity throughout the refrigerant compression and expansion process. It can shorten the cooling time by 10% compared to mechanical thermal expansion valves. At the same time, it also reduces the energy consumption of the compressor by reducing energy losses due to cycling transients in the cooling unit.
