Vitrifrigo's OCX2 icemakers come in three models which all feature the same 1,500 cu in (0.87 cu ft) icebox – producing up to 18 lb of ice per day.
The difference among the three models is the location of the compressor, and therefore the shape of the unit. This means there is an OCX2 model to fit virtually any installation requirements: tall and shallow (CL), short and deep (XT), short and shallow (XR). (Refer to model comparison image.)
Additionally, each of the three models of OCX2 icemakers is available in 2 versions — HYDRO versions are plumbed to the onboard potable water system, and REFILL versions include their own high-capacity, refillable 7.4 quart internal water tank for installations where plumbing access is difficult, or winter freezing is an issue.
This entry features the "low profile" XR models with the compressor mounted remotely, separate from the icebox. They are not as tall as the "standard" CL models, and also don't require as much depth. XR models are 22" Tall, 16" Wide, and only 17" Deep.
The XR model provides flexibility in the installation, especially if the selected location does not provide adequate ventilation for the compressor.
Vitrifrigo OCX2 Icemakers feature an innovative front-to-back sliding trim frame for installing the icemaker with the door either proud or flush to the mounting cabinet.
The OCX2 also features a venting mechanism which holds the door ajar during periods of non-use to let ambient air circulate in the interior of the icebox to prevent mustiness.
The 7.4 quart water tank in the REFILL model has a large 4" refill / access port, making it easy to wash by hand. The tank also features a Low Water Level sensor and a Quick Plug to refill via a dedicated hose. (See image.)
In the REFILL version of these XR icemakers, the refillable water reservoir is mounted remotely, close to the unit (See image).
Waterproof LED thermostat/control panel has an on/off ice production switch and a freezer mode with 3 temperature settings down to -18°C (0°F).
REFILL models also feature an LED warning indicator on the control panel which is linked to the tank's low water level sensor.
Another great feature that differentiates the OCX2 icemakers from all others is that they can be used as an icemaker, or as a stand-alone freezer.
Just deactivate the ice production module on the control panel, remove the ice tray, and you have an auxiliary freezer! Many boaters do not use their icemakers all the time so having extra freezer capacity, when needed, is appreciated.
