Working on the same principle as the "Chinese Finger Traps" you know from your childhood, YaleGrips are used to pull or anchor a rope or electrical cable, or to secure the bitter end of same.
YaleGrips are used as pulling and stopping grips for above or below ground electrical cable installation, for deployment and retrieval of a variety of cables - including umbilical cables, as marine stoppers on mooring hawsers, and for temporary or permanent strain relief. They can also be applied to pipes and other types of tubing.
Their ease of application makes them excel at temporarily securing towing cables and hawsers during load transfer.
YaleGrips are applied quickly over a wide range of cable diameters without specialized tools. They are non-corrosive, have good dielectric properties, and are compact and lightweight. Installed, the grip remains flexible and the wide strands do less damage to mating surfaces than other types of grips.
Consisting of a reinforced anchor point/securing eye attached to either four or six flat woven strands of strong Technora® Aramid fiber with finished ends, YaleGrips are quickly and easily braided around a line or cable to secure it for pulling. They may be applied to the ends or anywhere along the length of a cable.
The eye is covered entirely with an extra layer of braid, which is saturated with Maxijacket urethane, an abrasion-resistant coating for extended life.
Eyes are color-coded for easy identification.
YaleGrips are far stronger than wire mesh grips and do not form dangerous "fishhooks," as do wire mesh grips, making them much safer to handle.
When properly applied, their ultra-low profile and flexibility allows for snag-free pulling through conduit or over turning blocks
Select the grip according to the anticipated load, not by the cable size it fits.
When the anticipated load needs to be spread over a wider surface area, say to avoid damage when attaching to an umbilical cable, a six-leg grip is recommended. The six-leg grip is not stronger, it just distributes the gripping load over more of the mated surface. Please call your Fisheries rep at 800-426-6930 for a quote.
Larger-sized cables may be accommodated by lengthening the tail length. Again, please contact Fisheries Supply for a quote.
